说起MIPS的故事，那可就长了，而且非常曲折。

不同于x86这种复杂指令集架构(CISC)，MIPS、Arm、Power、SPARC、Alpha、RISC-V等等都是精简指令集(RISC)。

其中，MIPS成立于1984年，曾经也是盛极一时，一度得到众多头部大厂的采纳，销量火爆，而且1991年就进入了64位计算时代。

但是，势单力薄的MIPS终究难以与大厂抗衡，先后多次被收购。

其实早在2018年，国产芯片厂商芯联芯就取得了MIPS中国区(含港澳)的独家经营权，之后与龙芯打了几年官司，结果是龙芯在2024年初大获全胜，MIPS彻底失去了活路。
